- Supporting centralized management
If the WA2100 or WA2200 is used with an AC as a Fit AP, most of management packets and data packets are processed by the AC. The AC controls all Fit APs by using the CAPWAP so that status of all devices can be known about clearly. Compared to a traditional Fat AP, a Fit AP and an AC greatly help system administrators to manage the whole network.
- Supporting automatic version upgrade
The WA2100 and WA2200 can automatically communicate with the AC in a network, and download the latest software versions to the AP. Such operations do not require manual intervention, thus reducing workload of network maintenance. This feature is especially important to a large-sized network.
- Supporting IPv6
The WA2100 and WA2200 support the IPv4/IPv6 protocol stack. They can be connected to an AC through an IPv6 network. As a result, the networking mode is more flexible, future network development needs are met, and investment of customers is protected. Also, the WA2110-AG enables wireless users to access networks over IPv6.
- Supporting EAD wireless access
Integrated with network access control and terminal security products, the endpoint admission defense (EAD) solution is designed to ensure that user terminals can access networks safely. Working with a security client, security policy server, network device, and the third-party software, the EAD solution forcedly implements an enterprise security policy to control user terminals in the access network. As a result, the EAD solution strictly controls network usage of terminal users and effectively enhances active defense capability. In a word, the EAD provides an effective and ease-to-use management tool and measure for enterprise network administrators. The WA2100 and WA2200 series supports EAD access of wireless users. By working with a security policy server, the wireless clients that are infected with viruses or have security holes are forced to get offline, isolated, or monitored or notifications of such situations are sent. The wireless clients can access networks only when they meet the corresponding security policies, thus enhancing the overall security of the wireless network.
- Supporting intelligent load balancing
The WA2100 and WA2200 support the complicated balancing mode based on the number of users and traffic. Assume that the AC discovers that the load of the AP exceeds the preset threshold value. For a newly accessed user, the AC automatically calculates whether the user is adjacent to another AP with a light load. If there is such an AP, the AP rejects the request of the user for association. The user then accesses the AP with a light load. However, if the wireless user is not within the overlapping area of the AP, the traditional load balancing mode usually results in a network connection failure and eventually mistaken balancing. H3C supports innovatively the intelligent load balancing technology. The technology ensures that the AP load balancing function is enabled only for the wireless user within the AP overlapping area. It avoids the mistaken balancing effectively and the wireless network capacity is improved maximally.
- Supporting user isolation policy
The WA2100 and WA2200 support isolating a wireless user from another. After this function is enabled, the two wireless clients cannot directly communicate with each other so that they are shifted to access the upstream wireline network. With this function, operators can force wireless users to be charged or authenticated on the specified gateway or server, thus providing hot spot applications.
- Supporting upstream optical interfaces
As outdoor APs, the WA2210X-G, WA2220X-AG support upstream FE SFP optical interfaces. When they are deployed outdoors, extra optical-electrical converters are not required, thus reducing network fault points. In addition, upstream ETH interfaces and upstream optical interfaces are redundant, thus providing higher reliability.
